It has been an honour this year to be appointed as Lady Captain at Belton Woods Golf Club for 2011, which will be the 20th Anniversary of the club.
I therefore would like to take this opportunity to thank our Lady Captain for 2010 Pat Haynes for a great year.
As we enter 2011 and another year of busy golfing fixtures, the ladies with their weekly competitions, the league – now with 2 teams in the South Lincolnshire Divisions, the men with all their fixtures, league and club comps and not forgetting the Juniors and Seniors.
I hope that you will all enjoy and take part in our mixed competitions and as you browse through the diary pages you may see a couple of new ones too.
During my year as Lady Captain I have decided to support the 
– which supports Breast Cancer awareness.
Breast Cancer Campaign’s mission is to beat breast cancer by funding innovative world–class research into understanding how breast cancer develops, leading to improved diagnosis, treatment, prevention and cure across the UK.
Breast Cancer awareness is very close to everyone’s hearts, every 11 minutes someone in the UK is told that they have breast cancer. That’s over 100 people a day, over 100 families and over 100 loved ones who hear the news that someone close to them has breast cancer.
This really brings it home on a personal level as my husbands’ mother passed away a number of years ago from breast cancer therefore it is a charity that we support. When diagnosis is made in the early stages, then with the support of research and intervention, many go on to live normal healthy lives.
Throughout the year, there will be competitions within the Club for the members to help raise funds for Tickled Pink and I sincerely hope that you will be able to support the Tickled Pink Campaign.
I am also holding a new event in July of 2011, an event that I am hoping will attract many ladies. This Ladies Charity AM/AM is open to members and non members alike, of which all the details can be found on the Open Competitions Page, or by contacting me via suewaldren@beltonwoods.co.uk.
I look forward to sharing many golfing days and moments with you all and may your year be filled with tiny miracles…… the ones that keep us coming back for more, the birdies, the eagles and for the very fortunate ones, the Holes in One.
